Please join us for a special live recording of Be-Spoke, a podcast series that explores the stories behind bespoke objects and experiences.

Presented by Adriana Paice Kent, director of creative property development company, Woven Spaces, the podcasts feature artists, brokers and their clients discussing commissioning and the stories behind their projects. 

The guests for this episode are art consultant, Kate Sweeney, contemporary visual artist-maker, Francisca Prieto, and placemaking expert, Carlin Fier. Together, they will explore commissioning site-specific artwork for corporate and public spaces, and the important role galleries and art businesses hold as conduits in the commissioning process.

Be-Spoke   

Be-Spoke is a podcast series that explores the stories behind bespoke objects and experiences, from a new home to a tailor-made suit or unique perfume. It looks at why people commission certain objects and experiences, how they engage with a maker, and the rich relationships forged along the way.    

The Be-Spoke podcast aims to make commissioning accessible. The key take-away is that there is a way to consume better with work that is meaningful and long-lasting.

Woven Spaces   

Woven Spaces is a creative property development company that weaves together craftsmanship and community to shape meaningful spaces. It explores how to build better, forging new connections with existing places and unlocking  potential in commercial buildings. Recent developments include the award-winning transformation of a handsome art deco building in Fitzrovia.

Adriana Paice Kent   

Adriana is the founder and director of creative property development company Woven Spaces. She is also a curator, artist, and editor. Her work includes the creation of BAFTA nominated interactive sculptures for the London Stock Exchange, in addition to curating Thomas Heatherwick’s award-winning British Pavilion at the World Expo in Shanghai and editing books on British design for Sir John Sorrell. Collaboration with poets, musicians and fashion designers is at the heart of her artistic practice. She draws on this collaborative, creative, process to shape impactful commercial spaces. 

Kate Sweeney   

Kate Sweeney is the founder and director of Perspective, an art consultancy specialising in the curation of contemporary art collections in a variety of corporate, residential, and public spaces.   

Kate was a senior manager at Sotheby’s New York before becoming an independent advisor for various corporations, design firms, institutions, and private collectors. Her career in the contemporary art world has spanned over 25 years and includes international experience in a multitude of countries, predominantly within the UK, Europe, USA, and Middle East. Kate has strategically delivered large-scale complex initiatives and has developed inspiring art programmes around the globe. 

Francisca Prieto   

Francisca was born in Chile, where she trained and worked as a graphic designer. In 2001 she moved to London to study for an MA at Central Saint Martins, and she continues to live and work in the city.    

Prieto’s work is exhibited widely in London and abroad, including a critically acclaimed solo show at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Museum of Fine Arts) in Chile (2019), as well as the Venice Biennale (2017) and at international art fairs such as Pinta London (2013, 2012). Her work is in public collections worldwide, including the British Library, Tate, and the V&A’s National Art Library and in private institutions such as the board room of Schroders' global headquarters (England), and the luxury hotel The Gleneagles (Scotland). 

Carlin Fier  

Carlin Fier is a multi-disciplinary placemaking expert with over 20 years’ experience in the real estate industry. Her expertise is destination creation through placemaking, branding and communications with international experience across Europe, the Middle East, and the US. 

Carlin formally headed up public art at Battersea Power station. She recently founded her own agency Fier & Folk, which delivers comprehensive marketing campaigns and events programming for brands in the commercial, residential, and retail sectors.

Home to a year-round programme of diverse, interdisciplinary exhibitions and events across beautiful galleries, alongside the delicious Cromwell Place Café, and a variety of architecturally striking workspaces.
