Informality

Works by Peter Matthews, Joe Warrior-Walker, Anthony White, Andrew Graves, Mark Jackson, Joseph Goody, Max Wade, and James Drinkwater, in the first part of a two-part exhibition. The second part, focussing on female artists, follows in Autumn 2024.

‘The artists featured in ‘New Abstractions’ highlight some of the complexities and ambiguities of abstraction, with each creating dynamic, sensitive, and physical work. Driven by different meanings; intimacy, form, memory, mark-making, humanity, surface and balance, the cohort are united in their reflections on the world around us, all in awe of our environment, both visually, poetically, and politically”

Since its inception, Informality has curated and co-hosted renowned Australian artist Jamie North's first solo show in London, titled 'Inflection' with Pi Artworks London. In 2020 Informality engaged with The Sidney Nolan Trust and brought a virtual exhibition during the closures of the COVID-19 pandemic, showcasing works by Anthony White throughout Sidney Nolan's 17th century manor, The Rodd, and later in 2021 held a physical exhibition of Sir Sidney Nolan's never shown before, intimate polaroids alongside of paintings from the Trusts collection. Other notable exhibitions include; 'Women In Photography' co-curated by Virginia Woods-Jack, Francesca Mollett's 'Wild Shade', 'From Nature' and Rebecca Partridge's 'On A Clear Day'. In 2021 Informality were acting advisors for Oxford University and St Hilda's College, and in the same year developed a partnership with worldwide advisory Gurr Johns.
