TIN MAN ART

From the longstanding collaboration between Radiohead's drummer Philip Selway and painter Stewart Geddes, the exhibition is the celebration of art, music and the creative friendship between the two.

The two men had met before the pandemic: but it was in the forced lockdown and isolation induced by the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, speaking studio to studio, that Geddes and Selway developed a creative friendship that quickly flourished into collaboration.

‘You had to occupy one space, you had to slow down,’ Selway says of lockdown, ‘which allowed these conversations to grow.’

The exhibition features the paintings from Stewart Geddes and music by Philip Selway,  for his new solo music album of the same name – his 3rd venture outside Radiohead – which is due for release in February 2023.

‘All art constantly aspires to the condition of music,’ wrote the Victorian art critic Walter Pater. But here, in the Strange Dance project, are music and painting that are purposely receptive to the other medium – following each other’s lead, dancing in the darkness, dancing in the squares.

TIN MAN ART

Founded by James Elwes in 2021, we're not just about presenting art, our team works closely with collectors at every level to connect them with exceptionally talented artists.

The gallery has a flexible approach to exhibitions held in central London, across project spaces and internationally. This is complemented by a strong online presence and a programme of dynamic talks and events. Collaboration and transparency are integral to our approach, as is the belief that collecting art should be a source of joy and open to everyone.
