The exhibition includes a group of Chinese contemporary ink paintings by the leading artists working in this category.

Chinese contemporary ink painting has been described as the most idealistic and intellectually daring of any art being produced in contemporary culture in China today. Also included will be French and English artists who have been attracted to and influenced by this central element within Chinese culture. Including, Tim Yip, an Oscar-winner for his art direction of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, will be exhibiting a spectacular group of drawings.

On Tuesday 2 November at 11:00 and Friday 4 November at 14:00, Michael Goedhuis will give talks about the exhitions to any attendees of Asian Art in London that wish to attend.

Michael Goedhuis

In the early 1990s Michael Goedhuis began dealing Chinese modern and contemporary art and was the first dealer in the West to enter this field with a series of important exhibitions including the pioneering exhibition at Sotheby’s, New York, in 2001 China Without Borders: Chinese Contemporary Art. Most of his activity since then has been directed at describing both the resurgence of cultural activity in the China of today and the key relevance of Chinese Ink art to contemporary aesthetics. In addition to representing the best contemporary Chinese artists, his activities now include exhibiting work by the best of the new generation of Western artists, both painters and sculptors.
